Sesame Medley Trail Mix Ingredients

Before you go running to the store, let me give you the inside scoop on the key ingredients:

Roasted Green Peas

Native to: Mediterranean and Western Asia

Top 3 nutrients: protein, fiber, carbs

Roasted green peas can typically be found in either the snack aisle or international aisles in grocery stores. They also sell them at Bulk Barn.

It’s also easy to make them at home with an oven, air-fryer or dehydrator.

Roasted Chickpeas

Native to: Middle East

Top 3 nutrients: protein, fiber, carbs

Roasted chickpeas can also typically be found in either the snack aisle or international aisles in grocery stores. I recommend plain or sea salt flavoured.

It’s also easy to make them at home with an oven, air-fryer or dehydrator.

Sesame Sticks

Top 3 nutrients: carbs, iron, fiber

My favourite choice is the sesame sticks from Bulk Barn, but any sesame cracker will work just as well!

Corn Nuts

Native to: Mesoamerica (corn)

Top 3 nutrients: carbs, fiber, protein

Feel free to use salted or unsalted corn nuts.

Banana Chips

Native to: South East Asia (bananas)

Top 3 nutrients: potassium, vitamin B6, vitamin C

Banana chips are easy to find, but if you have a dehydrator, I highly recommend making your own banana chips! They’re healthier and provide the best flavour.

Storage Instructions

Here are some tips to help you maximize the shelf life of your Sesame Medley Trail Mix:

  • Keep stored in a sealable container or bag
  • Vacuum sealing can extend the shelf life by up to three times its normal duration! This is useful if you’re prepping lots for longer term use.
  • Store in a cool, dry and dark place.

When you take these measures, your trail mix can last for several months, up to a couple of years!
