Nutty Apricot Trail Mix

Before you go running to the store, let me give you the inside scoop on the key ingredients:

Dried Apricots

Native to: Central Asia

Top 3 nutrients: vitamin A, vitamin C, fiber

Unsweetened dried apricots are recommended, however sweetened works as well.

Almonds

Native to: Middle East & South Asia

Top 3 nutrients: healthy fats, vitamin E, magnesium

Whole raw or roasted almonds are recommended, but slivered works too!

Pistachios

Native to: Middle East

Top 3 nutrients: protein, healthy fats, fiber

Unsalted pistachios are best, but salted is fine too! Feel free to buy unshelled, but save a good chunk of change and get shelled (and shell them yourself).

Dried Cranberries

Native to: North America

Top 3 nutrients: vitamin C, fiber, antioxidants

To keep sugars down, opt for unsweetened. If you have more of a sweet tooth, sweetened works too!

White Chocolate

Native to: Central & South America (cocoa butter)

Top 3 nutrients: fat, carbs, calcium

I personally prefer to buy my favourite chocolate and chop it into bite size pieces, but feel free to use chocolate chips!

Storage Instructions

Here are some tips to help you maximize the shelf life of your Nutty Apricot Trail Mix:

  • Keep stored in a sealable container or bag
  • Vacuum sealing can extend the shelf life by up to three times its normal duration! This is useful if you’re prepping lots for longer term use.
  • Store in a cool, dry and dark place. For longer term storage, it’s recommended to keep stored in the freezer (especially if not vacuum sealed)
