Made with dehydrated potatoes, garlic, and fragrant rosemary, these hashbrowns are lightweight, easy to prepare, and full of flavour. Ideal for outdoor adventurers and minimalist chefs alike!

Ingredients
  

  • cup dehydrated hashbrown style potatoes, see notes
  • 2 tbsp whole milk powder
  • 2 tsps grated parmesan cheese see notes
  • ⅛-¼ tsp rosemary
  • tsp garlic powder
  • pepper, to taste

Instructions

How to Prepare:

  • 1. Combine all ingredients in a sealable container or bag

How to Cook:

  • 1. Add ¾ cup hot water, stir well
  • 2. Cover and let sit for 15 mins
  • 3. Stir and enjoy!

Notes

  • DRIED HASHBROWNS: Dehydrated hashbrown potatoes - such as Golden Grill hashbrowns - are the best because they can be prepared quickly by simply adding hot water. If you can't get your hands on these, instant mashed potatoes would be the best alternative for a backcountry friendly meal. 
  • PARMESAN CHEESE: For optimal shelf life, it's best to use grated Parmesan cheese, such as the classic shaker variety we all know. This type has a low moisture content, making it shelf-stable for extended periods. While freshly grated Parmesan can be used, its shelf life may be shorter
    • No matter which cheese you choose, if you're prepping for a backcountry adventure, you may want to store it in the fridge or freezer until your trip to maintain freshness.
